Poqueira gorge high acequias walk

Left Trevelez in the wrong direction, so started the day with a drive through some mountain roads, past an abandoned village, which became the theme of the day really. Drove down a long dirt track to the start of the walk at another abandoned village, next to a hydro-electric power station.

A bit hazardous, these mountain roads

Heading up (&up, & up) the gorge

Note the line of the acequia all along the hillside

After reaching an "abandoned farmhouse", which was clearly occupied, the Sierra Nevada range opened out & the next couple of hours walking gave me shifting angles of this magnificent range.  I couldn't stop taking photos. An odd feeling of delight at knowing I had walked along this ridge (right to left), replaced the typical "I want to walk up there" desire.

Sierra Nevada range, mid-left far peak is Valeta, the last peak I stood on

Valeta is left, Mulcacean, furthest right

Goats, with bells

According to the guidebook "another abandoned farm"
